What this service covers
A layered felt covering
Torch-on felt roofing uses layers of reinforced felt with a bitumen coating, with carefully formed joints, edges and raised edges or junctions (upstands). It can be considered for domestic flat roofs such as garages and extensions, including renewal of an existing felt roof.
Split felt or lifting laps can indicate a problem.
Repair or renewal of the felt roof
We check the existing covering, outlets and accessible supporting deck, the base beneath the covering, before advising on repair or replacement. The roof layout, adjoining materials and safe installation method all form part of the specification. Can an old felt roof be repaired?
A small damaged area may be repairable if the rest of the covering and the boards beneath are sound. Widespread wear needs assessing before another patch is added.
